Ensemble Ex Materia is a contemporary music collective led by composer Peter Vukmirovic Stevens. Drawing from an international network of musicians across disciplines, the ensemble creates experimental works that dissolve the boundaries between composition and improvisation.
Based in Paris, the group operates at the intersection of concert, electro-acoustic, and improvised music. Its collaborative process invites individual artists to respond to compositional prompts with recorded material, which is then assembled into cohesive, multilayered works.
Ensemble Ex Materia’s music reflects the tension, nuance, and immediacy of contemporary experience rendered through sound.
